Gateroad Design in Overlying Multi-seam Mines
نویسندگان
چکیده
There are two major design problems for upper seam longwall gateroads operating in a multi-seam environment. The first is to determine the location, magnitude and duration of stress transferred from lower seam mines; and the second is to predict the effect of stress transferred from lower seam mines on opening stability. To solve these problems for both longwall and room-and-pillar mines, case study data were collected and analyzed to develop empirical models predicting upper seam damage created by mining activities in the lower seam. Analysis showed vertical movement in the upper seam and roof CMRR (Coal Mine Roof Rating) to be the controlling factors in damage prediction and, therefore, gateroad planning and design. The relationship between the predicted damage rating and the gateroad stability was established and quantified. To simplify the application of design procedures developed for longwall gateroad systems, the criteria were incorporated in a Windows-based, multi-interface software , UGLY (Upperseam Gateroad Longwall Stability). The programming language was Visual Basic, and the program’s design capabilities were validated and demonstrated using case study data.

متن کاملStability Control of Retained Goaf-Side Gateroad under Different Roof Conditions in Deep Underground Y Type Longwall Mining
Stability of the retained goaf-side gateroad (RGSG) is influenced mainly by the movements of the roof strata near coal seam after coalface passes by. To make effective controlling technology for the stability of the RGSG, we analyze the roof structure over the RGSG to illustrate the mechanism causing the RGSG instability under different roof conditions. We then examine the dynamic evolution of ...

Spontaneous combustion of coal is one of the most horrifying hazards in coal industries, especially in underground coal mines. Thus having a prior knowledge about the occurrence of this phenomenon in underground coal mines is of crucial importance in preventing this process, loss of life, huge economic loss, and environmental pollution. The aim of this work is to determine the spontaneous combu...

Love-type wave generation in a fiber-reinforced medium placed over an inhomogeneous orthotropic half-space is analysed. The upper and lower boundary surfaces of the fiber reinforced medium are periodically corrugated. Inhomogeneity of half-space is caused by variable density and variable shear modules. Displacement components for layer and half-space are derived by applying separable variable t...
